The end of September and the month of October provided many opportunities for Western Tech students to explore careers in the trades. Students from the Mechanical Construction / Plumbing program enjoyed a day at M&T bank stadium for the MCCEI Construction Career day and the Union Trades Career Fair and had an opportunity to explore several construction industries and trade unions, including the local Steamfitters Union booth represented by former Western Tech alum Talon Cooper.
Students in the Automotive and Environmental Tech programs were invited to spend the day with industry professionals from BGE, an Exelon Company. The day started with a walk-through of the exhibits at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, followed by a presentation by several high level BGE Executives and former interns who went through the same internship program being promoted. The event culminated with a rotation of interactive stations where students could try equipment, ask questions and learn more about the various career/internship opportunities available to them.
